Before Your Appointment
Electronic New-Patient Forms
After an appointment is scheduled, McDowell Chiropractic sends the patient's intake forms electronically through its electronic health record system.
Patients can complete the forms electronically, and the submitted information is transferred directly into the clinic's EHR. This helps the office receive the information securely and prepare for the appointment.
If you do not receive the forms or need assistance completing them, contact the office before your visit at (770) 599-7139.
Please do not send detailed medical history, Social Security numbers, insurance identification numbers, or medical records through the website's general contact form.

What May Happen at the First Visit
The exact process must be confirmed by McDowell Chiropractic before publication.
Conversation About Your Concerns
Dr. McDowell asks what brought you to the office, when the concern began, how it affects daily activities, and what you hope to understand or improve.
Review of Health History
Discuss medical conditions, medications, prior injuries, surgeries, pregnancy when relevant, and previous chiropractic or other treatment. Complete information helps the doctor identify risk factors and decide whether referral is needed.
Relevant Examination
The examination may include movement, posture, joint, muscle, neurological, or other assessments related to the concern. The clinic should list only tests it actually performs.
Imaging or Referral When Appropriate
Imaging is not automatically necessary for every patient. If it is recommended, ask why, where it will be performed, what it may show, how it will affect the care decision, and what it will cost.
Review of Findings and Options
Dr. McDowell explains whether chiropractic care may be appropriate. A responsible recommendation includes the proposed technique, expected benefits and limitations, possible risks, alternatives, visit schedule, reassessment point, and anticipated cost.
Treatment Only When Appropriate
Some patients may receive care at the first appointment, while others may need imaging, further review, or referral. The clinic must confirm its actual policy rather than promise a same-day adjustment.

Questions to Ask Before You Begin Care
- What is your working explanation for my symptoms?
- Are there warning signs or reasons I need another provider?
- Which technique are you recommending, and why?
- What benefits and limitations are reasonable?
- What are the potential risks and alternatives?
- How many visits are you initially recommending?
- How will we measure progress?
- What happens if I do not improve as expected?
- What will I owe, and what might insurance cover?
